The soldiers stormed the centre and assaulted four Caritas staff. The children fled in fear while the soldiers chased and tormented them in their escape. It is only with luck that no children were injured or kidnapped. The government soldiers pilfered all food, blankets and mattresses from the Caritas Centre. The children were clearly frightened and agitated on their return to the centre that evening. The staff of Caritas Goma has taken the children to Goma and are seeking accommodation in the Don Bosco children’s home.
